Golden Conversation

Our Vicar, Revd Graham Hunter, took part in the recent ‘Golden Conversation’ held by the Haberdashers’ Company at St Bartholomew the Less in Smithfields.

The Golden Conversation involved Imam Mohammed Mahmoud and Revd Graham Hunter discussing the theme: ‘Loving Your Neighbour in 21st Century Britain: Islamic & Christian Perspectives on Serving the Common Good.’ The event saw over 150 people gather to listen to the conversation, and to join in with their questions. Amongst the audience were around 80 A-level students from the various Haberdashers’ schools.

This was the first time the Golden Conversation had been held. Historically the Haberdashers’ held an annual Golden Lecture followed by a lunch, but this format was more dynamic, interactive and accessible to a younger audience.

Our church has a historic connection with the Haberdashers’ Company, who are our patron. This means they’re involved in the appointment and support of our Vicar. They continue to proactively support the church with financial grants and have provided generous volunteers in the past to help us with our church accounts.
