Praying with the Archbishop!
It was wonderful to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, along with his wife Caroline, to pray with members of St John's Hoxton on Thursday 1st June.Members of St John's Hoxton have committed to holding 168 hours of continuous prayer and worship for the week running up to Pentecost Sunday. Members have signed up via 24-7 Prayer and are coming into the chapel in the middle of the night to pray, as well as praying in their workplaces or homes. You can read more about last year's Week of Prayer here. This initiative is our response to Thy Kingdom Come - an international prayer initiative led by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. The aim is to encourage Christians up and down the country to be mobilised in prayer for our neighbourhoods and our nation. Revd Chris Russell, also joined us. Our prayers were particularly focused on praying for growth in our church congregations - especially as we prepare to launch two new Sunday morning services to create greater capacity. Instead of one service at 10.30, there will now be two services, at 9.30 & 11.30, with children's groups and Holy Communion at both. We're excited to see more people able to join worship services at our church. We also prayed for our children and youth ministers - as our church has a special focus on ministry among young people. It was a huge privilege to welcome Justin & Caroline to be with us! [FAG id=918]
